Flocel’s family of Dynamic In Vitro Blood-Brain Barrier (DIV- BBB) products represents the first flow-based, 3D in vitro model of the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Our innovative technology utilizes human endothelial cells and the formation of tight junctions to reflect in a physiologically accurate manner the characteristics of the BBB.
The DIV-BBB 3.0 replicates important endothelial cell-astrocyte interactions and can sustain up to four cell culture modules. It enables more accurate pharmacokinetic and toxicological studies and substantially reduces both the experimental time and the cost of drug development. The cell culture modules can be used to model not only the BBB, but also the blood-bone marrow, placental, and blood-CSF barriers. The modules can also be utilized for pericyte, epithelial, and tumor cell growth analysis, and much more!
